AM Session 1 - Intro to Tinkercad 3D Modeling
Presented by Matt Mahoney
This is an introduction on 3D modeling using Autodesk Tinkercad which is geared towards education using classrooms and simulations. Tinkercad is a drag and drop style modeling software that is simple to learn but with lots of possibilities. It is a free program with 3D modeling, coding, circuits, and simulation lab included, but this course will be focused on 3D modeling and classroom setup.

AM Session 2 - Who doesn’t love LEGO? (That’s not under their foot)
Presented by Brinly McCorriston
Little and big kids love LEGO, why not bring that same enthusiasm and fun into the classroom? In this session you will learn how to use and incorporate LEGO Education (SPIKE Prime) kits in Stem and Industrial art classrooms. This session will be applicable to all levels of learners but focus on use in middle and high schools. Attendees must bring a laptop with the Lego Education software downloaded.

AM Session 3 - Supporting Stem Education Through Assistive Technology Lens
Join the Neil Squire Society team to learn how their Makers Making Change program supports STEM education through an assistive technology lens. Learn how your students can integrate STEM Skills to support people with disabilities. Participate in a basic level hands-on assistive device build workshop. (devices are donated to the local community).

AM Session 4 - Introduction to Airbrushing

This is an introductory to airbrushing session. This session will be geared towards those who are new to airbrushing or thinking of bringing airbrushing to their class. Points to be discussed are reliable suppliers, Initial start up costs, yearly operational costs, fundamental
techniques, Introductory assignments, daily cleaning/maintenance, In depth cleaning.

AM Session 5 - Navigating the CFS System for Teachers

How Child and Family Services is set up, and the differences between authorities and agencies.
The role of fostering v. kinship, and what foster parents can/can't do.
The responsibilities of each person in a Child-in-Care student's team (foster parent, teacher, administration, worker, biological family, etc).
What an ideal school experience looks like from the point of view of each of the team members.
Common concerns and challenges with CIC in school.

AM Session 6 - Live Edge Lumber Tips Tricks and Techniques
Presented by Luke Enns
Come learn methods for utilizing live edge lumber in your middle years and highschool shop setting. Topics covered include procuring free rounds and logs, urban forestry, drying techniques, slab flattening techniques, project ideas, and more. There will also be a short alaskan mill demonstration outside if time allows. Hope to see you there.

Do you want to buy a CNC, find out what bits to use, and connect with like-minded people who have one? If you have read this far, sign up for a session that will provide the opportunity to discuss machines, tooling, software, materials, and grant writing.

AM Session 8 - HSAP (High School Apprenticeship Program) New Teacher Orientation Session
This session is a “How-To” session designed for new HSAP teachers or a refresher for teachers who have HSAP as a small portion of their workload. This session will focus on the practical day-to-day components that an HSAP teacher will need to know to recruit, register, monitor, and assess students throughout an entire school year. Materials will be shared and plenty of time will be available to allow participants to ask questions about their specific teaching context.

Presenters: Reg Toews and Andy Reimer (combined 21 years of experience) are HSAP educators working for the Red River Technical Vocational Area RRTVA serving the Border Land, Garden Valley, Red River Valley and Western School Divisions. Both Reg and Andy currently serve as co-chairs of the High School Apprenticeship Program Professional Learning Group – HSAP PLG.

PM Session 2 - Resin printers: More Than Just D&D Figures
Unlock the artistic potential of resin 3D printing with casting. Dive into the world of resin casting, where technology meets craftsmanship, and creativity knows no bounds. This workshop will guide you through the fascinating process of using resin 3D printers to create intricate molds for casting a variety of objects.

How Child and Family Services is set up, and the differences between authorities and agencies.
What foster parents/respite workers get paid.
Providing respite, a foster home, or other placement options as a teacher.

PM Session 4 - RUN CNC

In this session, we will build on the topics discussed during CNC OVERLORD ESSENTIALS and demonstrate how to operate 2 types of CNC routers (big and small). Together we will brainstorm approachable class projects for your shop’s workflow, and share shop improvement opportunities. Come with your questions and experience to network with others. Bring your USB to participate in the free file frenzy.

PM Session 5 - Introduction to Electronics

Do you want to become more comfortable teaching electronics? In this session we will take a collaborative look at project ideas for each grade level along with resources being used by everyone. We will dive into materials, tools, equipment and ordering of supplies.

PM Session 6 - Safety System Update: Beta Version
Presented by Matt Patrician
This session will show a beta version of the safety system currently being developed by RRC Industrial Arts Teacher Education, Manitoba School Boards Association, and the HUB Insurance group. The goal of this system is to provide teachers with printable safety signage that aligns with current standards (ANSI, CSA, etc.), and provides a visual hazard mitigation reminders on the tools they are associated with, and links to established Safe Work Procedures.

These safety sign templates, generalized SWPs and other resources will be available on a beta version of a website hosted by MBSA and HUB. The purpose of the session is to demonstrate the intended functionality of the system and its associated website from the perspective of the a teacher, and seek feedback before all resources are finalized.

All Day Session 1 - Sparky's Unite - MB Electrical Teachers PLC
The objective of this professional development session is to bring together electrical teachers from across the province and establish a united Professional Learning Community. Through collaboration and sharing of expertise, the session will focus on improving classroom/shop management, discussing industry-relevant learning projects, and staying updated on changes to the Canadian Electrical Code.

AD Session 1 - Metis Beadwork (Must register)
Presented by Josh Prudin
In this session participants will be given an introduction to Metis beadwork and using a loom for beading. Participants will be provided with a loom and a small amount of beading supplies as part of registration costs of the session. In this all-day session topics covered will include, incorporating indigenous perspectives in your classroom, exposure to indigenous pedagogies and the difference between token projects and teaching with intention. This will be both a hands-on and discussion session.

Come and learn basic leatherworking skills and gain valuable resources to kick-start leatherworking in your classroom. AM Session 9 - Trotec laser

This session will focus on how you can use lasers in your classroom to further learning and creativity, along with same new cool projects that you might want to try! In addition to seeing what lasers can do, the programs used to run lasers will also be discussed.

AM Session 10 - Project Based Learning, not your parents IA classroom.

Project Based Learning is a familiar subject in Industrial Arts Education, but how does it, or could it look in a regular classroom. San Diego charter schools, High Tech, High, High Tech Middle, and High Tech Elementary, implement this philosophy of education in everything they do. This presentation explores PBL in schools and examines how the Industrial Arts classroom could expand across the curriculum.
