MB Teacher Winter 2024

Winter Edition Available Now!

Lots to learn in the winter, 2024, issue of the MB Teacher!

There’s something for everyone in the winter, 2024 issue, starting with our cover story, Queering Indigenous Education. Here you’ll explore a facet of learning around Indigenous perspectives often overlooked in readily available content for teachers—that of Two-Spirit and Indigequeer students, educators and community members. We also examine the importance of robust, well-funded adult basic education systems and the many benefits they deliver to all of us! MTS member Jenna Forslund shares her journey from reader of National Geographic magazines to National Geographic explorer, and how she connected her “edventure” of a lifetime, an expedition to Japan, to learning opportunities in her classroom.

Minister of Education and Early Childhood Learning, Nello Altomare, sits down with the MB Teacher to provide a glimpse into his new role and the new government’s public education priorities. You’ll hear from soon-to-be-retired principal Bonnie Rempel about her life as an educator in Thompson, Manitoba, and her thoughts on new ways of being, and seeing, that are crucial to how we respond to the needs of northern youth. We’ll also highlight the work of two independent researchers on school suspension policy in Manitoba and share the latest news from the provincial bargaining table!

All this and more in the winter, 2024 issue of the MB Teacher magazine!
