Thousands of teachers took part in learning the week of October 22, taking part in the MTS Fab 5 conference and the MTS PD Day conference, the largest professional development event of the year.

The Fab 5 conference was held in person at the Victoria Inn in Winnipeg and was attended by beginner teachers from across the province.

“This year’s FAB 5 offered early career teachers with information and workshops tailored to where they are in their careers,” says MTS Staff Officer Eric Sagenes. “We had keynote speakers who let them know how important of a role they play in educating the next generation. And, they also had the opportunities to explore their teaching practice with each other and teachers in the field to provide them with advice and ideas to further inspire them.”

Meanwhile, on MTS PD Day, 35 different SAGE  groups offered virtual and hybrid workshops and sessions.

“Many thanks to all who volunteered their time, experience and expertise to organize and deliver over 300 different workshops and sessions for MTS PD Day,” says Staff Officer Lia Gervino. “Thanks to those efforts, teachers from across Manitoba were able to choose the professional learning they needed to support their work in their classroom and school community.”
