Today the Manitoba government announced that K-12 schools currently in remote learning in Winnipeg and Brandon, as well as in the Red River Valley and Garden Valley school divisions, will continue with remote learning until June 7.

All other schools that have moved to remote learning based on individual assessment by public health officials have end dates prescribed by public health officials to which they should adhere. For example, schools in Flin Flon will continue in remote learning until June 8th and Dauphin until June 9th, 2021.

The Society supports extending remote learning until public health can assure us that a return to in-class learning is safe for all involved.

Once the decision to return to in-class learning has been made, MTS will be holding the government accountable to ensure all the necessary health and safety precautions are in place to ensure a successful return.
