Speak up on Bill 45

Members of The Manitoba Teachers’ Society are being encouraged to make their voices heard on impending provincial labour legislation.

Among other items, Bill 45 – The Public Schools Amendment and MTS Amendment Act, would change the way teachers bargain.

A major concern is the proposed law says arbitrators must take into account a school division’s “ability to pay” when determining a settlement.

This amounts to the division having the ability to pay what it wants.

You can find more information here, along with how submissions are made to the government committee that will examine the bill and some sample formats.
