Yoga Teacher + Ayurveduc Lifestyle Counselling

Adrienne has been practising yoga since childhood. From this early start, she has dedicated herself to a daily practice grounded in sincerity and equanimity. Since completing Moksha (2009) and Ashtanga (2011) yoga teacher trainings, she has stepped into a teaching role to offer yoga as a pathway towards gratitude, intelligence, and generosity. Adrienne explores yoga in its many forms – from physical poses on a mat, to seated practice on a meditation cushion, to Kirtan, call-and-response chanting – but her teaching emphasises the underlying fundamental elements that run throughout.

In addition, Adrienne has both a certification as an Ayurvedic Lifestyle Counsellor and a Master’s degree in Food Science; she offers private consultations and workshops where she integrates the healing traditions of Ayurveda with contemporary science.

Dr. Jody Carrington

For the first time in our histories, we have experienced an entire globe experiencing a heightened state of arousal for over a year. The cost to that will include significant emotional disregulation—in the kids we teach, but most importantly, in the big people who hold them. In the next year, as we navigate all of this emotion, in them, in us, in our colleagues, and in our own family systems, we may find ourselves serving kids and families more dysregulated than we have ever experienced. Knowing that may allow us to make sense of it when and if this shows up in our classrooms. The three strategies that keep passion alive the most will include reconnecting to three key things: your people, your breath, and walking your why.

Presenter's Bio

Over the past 15 years, Dr. Jody Carrington has assessed, treated, educated and empowered some of our most vulnerable and precious souls on the planet. She is a child psychologist by trade, but Jody rarely treats kids. The answer lies, she believes, in the people who hold them. Especially when kids have experienced trauma, that’s when they need big people the most. Some of her favourites include educators, parents, first responders, and foster parents. Jody has shifted the way they think and feel about the holy work that they do.
Before Jody started her own practice and speaking across the country, she worked at the Alberta Children’s Hospital on the inpatient and day treatment units where she held families with some of the difficult stories. They taught her the most important lesson: we are wired to do hard things. We can handle those hard things so much easier when we remember this: we are wired for connection.
This all started when Jody received her Bachelor of Arts with Distinction from the University of Alberta. She completed a year-long internship with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police during that time, and worked along side families struggling with chronic illness at the Ronald McDonald House. She received her Master’s degree in Psychology at the University of Regina and completed her PhD there as well, before completing her residency in Nova Scotia.
