Session Description
Hidden Visual Dysfunctions that affect Students' Behaviour and Learning Abilities

You've met them - The bright children who struggle with reading and learning. While they are affectionately called underachievers, there is a reason they behave the way they do. Some children just struggle with learning to read, while others struggle to learn while reading.

These children are likely the 1 in 4 children who suffer from correctable yet hidden visual dysfunctions. Sadly, many children may seem unmotivated, lazy or just not very bright. Yet more may appear unable to pay attention or highly disorganized or can't seem to behave appropriately.

Fortunately, there is something you can do to help these struggling students. Discover the signs and symptoms of learning-related vision disorders and the exciting ways in which you can help.

Dr. Matthew Anderson, OD, FCOVD, is dedicated to helping children of all ages with vision problems that masquerade as learning and reading disabilities. He has been practicing Optometry since 2005 and is the Clinic Director at GRAND Developmental Vision Institute in Winnipeg.

Dr. Anderson is also the Manitoba Chair for the Canadian Optometrists in Vision Therapy and Rehabilitation. He has been a Fellow of the College of Optometrists in Vision Development since 2014.
