CERB Extended

Recognizing that many individuals are still unable to return to work or find employment, the federal government has announced that the Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB) program will be extended for eight weeks.

Simply put, if you have accessed the program since it was first launched and have already received $8,000 (16 weeks), but are still out of a job and without income due to COVID-19, your eligibility will be extended for eight weeks ($4,000).

CERB recipients for this new phase will be required to sign an attestation acknowledging the government is encouraging them to look for work and to consult with the government’s job bank. Those earning more than $1,000 a month are no longer eligible for CERB.
