Teaching Together [formerly known as International Collaboration for Education (ICE)] is a joint endeavour of the Canadian Teachers’ Federation (CTF/FCE) and its Member and Associate Organizations to support partners in developing countries as they co-plan and co-deliver professional learning to teachers. Since 1962, this program, part of the CTF/FCE’s International Cooperation Program, has assisted teacher organizations in over 50 countries. It involves over 50 Canadian teacher volunteers each year. Financial support is provided by the CTF/FCE and its Member Organizations. Currently programs are offered in Africa and the Caribbean in July each year.

Terms of the Assignment
Participants:
- will be assigned to a location where there is a CTF/FCE Teaching Together program but will not choose their location;
- must be available for an assignment during the month of July and for preparation leading up to the assignment;
- will be part of a team, which has a designated team leader;
- share living accommodations with other participants;
- will have program-related expenses covered, however, participants will not receive payment for the assignment;
- cannot be accompanied by family members or friends.
Selection of Participants
Applications are received and reviewed by the MTS Selection Committee. Following this, interviews will be conducted, and the selected applications will be forwarded to the CTF/FCE. Participants will be chosen based on the advice from Member Organizations and the specific needs of the Partner Organizations. Successful applicants are notified of their assignments usually by late January.
