The Manitoba Teachers’ Society, alongside the Metro School Divisions, is honoured to receive the 2025 Spirit of Collaboration Award from United Way Winnipeg.

This award recognizes outstanding joint workplace campaigns where leadership is demonstrated through meaningful collaboration between union and management. It celebrates campaigns in which labour is actively engaged throughout all stages of planning, rollout, celebration, and recognition—working stronger together at every level.

For decades, Manitoba’s educators have stood in solidarity with United Way Winnipeg. This past fall, the Society invited all schools across Winnipeg to take part in the launch of the first-ever joint Metro School Division United Way Winnipeg Campaign. MTS staff raised $4,585.10 in support of the campaign, with 27 per cent of employees participating.

United Way Winnipeg remains a powerful force for positive change, especially during challenging times. From food security and mental health support to youth programming, United Way ensures help is available when and where it’s needed most.

As the union representing public school educators, our commitment goes beyond the classroom. We share a collective purpose to support our students, their families, our communities, and one another.
