Teachers or clinicians who voluntarily surrender their certificate while a case is under review by the Commissioner of Teacher Professional Conduct or the Certificate Review Committee will now be listed as “Good standing – voluntarily surrendered” instead of just “Good standing in the registry.

Previously, teachers and clinicians who voluntarily surrendered their certificates during proceedings were listed in the registry as “Good standing.” Under the new regulation, this designation has been updated to “Good standing – voluntarily surrendered” to more accurately reflect the certificate’s status.

This designation will appear in individual certification searches and will be removed once the condition no longer applies. It provides assurance to the public that a teacher or clinician is not actively working in a classroom or school setting while their matter is under review.

This change to the Teacher Registry took effect on December 12, 2025.
