The Manitoba Teachers’ Society firmly believes in the power of education as a pathway to peace and reconciliation. In solidarity with educators in Palestine, the Society is joining Education International and the CTF/FCE in contributing a $5,000 donation to Education International’s Solidarity Fund.
This support reflects our shared commitment to stand with teachers, protect children, strengthen unions, and uphold human rights.
The conflicts in Gaza and the West Bank have severely disrupted the education of more than 625,000 children. Teachers who have long served as educators, caregivers, and symbols of resilience—despite not receiving their full salaries for the past two years—now face the immense task of rebuilding classrooms, reconnecting with students and families, and restoring hope amid ongoing uncertainty.
As educators and advocates, we remain committed to strengthening the role of public education as a force for peace and lasting social change.
