Message from MTS President Lillian Klausen on World Teachers’ Day

October 5 is World Teachers’ Day. The Manitoba Teachers’ Society is proud to join the global community in celebrating the incredible dedication, passion, and impact of teachers, especially the 16,600 public school teachers in Manitoba.

Since 1994, World Teachers’ Day has served as a reminder of the vital role educators play, not only in our classrooms, but in shaping the fabric of our society. This year’s theme, “Making Lives Better,” speaks to the heart of what it means to be a teacher. Every day, teachers support students, strengthen families, and enrich communities with care, courage, and creativity.

Here in Manitoba, we see that commitment in action every day. Whether it’s helping a child discover their voice, fighting hate by standing up for equity and inclusion, or guiding students through challenges both academic and personal, teachers make a difference that lasts a lifetime.

On behalf of The Manitoba Teachers’ Society, thank you to every educator who shows up, speaks up, and lifts others up. Today, we honour your work, your dedication, and your unwavering belief in the power and importance of a strong public education system.

A big thank you to each and every one of you.

Happy World Teachers’ Day.
