Program Description
For this year’s MSCA SAGE event we are hosting a series of four 1 hour presentations in various areas of mental and physical health supports. Throughout the day you will hear from individuals who will be explaining the role of their organizations, available resources, and how to connect with them to access supports. Our presenters will be discussing a range of topics including the connection between mental and physical health, anxiety, emotional dysregulation, the importance of relationships, trauma, and human trafficking prevention and education.

Mental Health and Performance Presentation
AJ Zeglen is the Manager and Strength Coach at Focus Fitness & Owner at Invictus Performance Focused Psychotherapy. AJ will be presenting on the connection between physical activity and mental health. There are benefits of exercise to boost mood and reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression while enhancing cognitive function and resilience.

Thrive Counselling Presentation
With children and teens, overthinking, anxiety and emotional distress/dysregulation can feel like a tornado. This is often an exhausting and sometimes really scary experience. We will share some theory/background as well as practical strategies and resources for coping with anxiety and dysregulation. Much of this presentation will be experiential with a focus on reducing the recovery time if someone is anxious or experiencing an anxiety attack. We will also explain the referral process that is very straightforward, if there are families that could use some extra support from our warm, compassionate team of therapists.
Presenters: Sandra Scott MMFT, RMFT, CCC, Owner & Clinic Director; Grace Cory, BA (Psych); MA Counselling Psych (in progress) Student Therapist & Brianne Anderson, BA (hons) (Sociology), MSW (in progress) Student Therapist.

The Joy Smith Foundation Presentation
Canada`s leading authority on human trafficking, prevention, intervention and support for survivors of this horrific crime. Human trafficking happens in every district in Manitoba. Students attending school often struggle socially and in their studies because of the trauma they are experiencing through human trafficking. A key focus of this presentation is prevention through education and awareness.
Presenter: CEO Janet Campbell.

Huddle Presentation
Huddle is a safe space for youth ages 9-29, offering free, trauma-informed and culturally safe health services in a youth-friendly atmosphere. Young Manitobans can access counselling, addiction support, indigenous wellness, peer support, primary care and social services- all under one roof!

Cancellation Policy: No refunds will be issued after October 10, 2025.
