MTS President Applauds \u2018Stability and Commitment\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Manitoba government has announced a 3.4% increase in public school funding for the 2025-2026 fiscal year\u2014significantly surpassing last year\u2019s inflation rate of 1.1%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThis level of commitment is encouraging,\u201d says Manitoba Teachers\u2019 Society President Nathan Martindale. \u201cWe have long advocated for stable and predictable funding for public education, and this increase will have a positive impact on both students and educators.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Martindale also welcomed the reinstatement of the Education Funding Stakeholder Advisory Committee. \u201cThis committee will provide education partners with a critical opportunity to engage in collaborative discussions and offer informed advice to the government on public education funding matters,\u201d Martindale explained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Martindale highlighted that many of these conversations will centre around ensuring equitable access to essential programs and services for students across Manitoba. \u201cWith growing enrolment and rising needs in our schools, both teachers and students require greater resources to meet these challenges,\u201d he emphasized.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This year\u2019s funding announcement includes targeted investments such as $30 million for school nutrition programs and $6 million for capital infrastructure support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
