As of January 2025, Manitoba teachers operate under a regulatory framework outlined in the Education Administration Act s. 8.1 \u2013 Teacher Discipline<\/em><\/strong>.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This regulated framework resulted in an office of the Commissioner of Teacher Professional Conduct<\/a><\/em><\/strong> as well as Competence standards<\/em><\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The regulated framework also includes a Teacher Registry<\/em><\/strong><\/a> that lists all teachers in Manitoba.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Members of the public can report instances of alleged misconduct directly to the commissioner. As well, employers are obligated in certain circumstances to report to the commissioner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Manitoba Teachers\u2019 Society is involved in supporting members who have had an allegation of misconduct or incompetence reported to the commissioner navigate the new process. Our role in providing this support is to ensure a fair and thorough process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
