Your colleagues at MTS know that the first five years of teaching can be both frightening and fabulous.
To help ensure most of it is the latter, we have designed a comprehensive symposium, to be held at the Clarion Hotel in Winnipeg Sept. 30 - Oct. 2, for teachers in those first five years.
Newer teachers have told us that they require more information to be properly prepared for the demands of teaching and they want to share experiences with other beginning teachers.
The Fab5 conference has been created with those needs in mind.
For example, you will be able to choose from such sessions as:
Come and join other new colleagues, while learning about the wealth of resources available to support you, all while building networks that will sustain us as we find our place in this rewarding profession.
You will be brought up to date on the services of your local and provincial teachers’ organizations, Special Area Groups and other bodies with which you will come in contact.
The conference will help establish a foundation that will ensure the decisions you make protect you personally, professionally and economically.
The Symposium begins Thursday evening, Sept. 30, with a light meal and introductory plenary session and reception.
Each participant will be able to choose up to four workshops on Friday with time after 4 p.m. to socialize with past and new colleagues.
During the final sessions on Saturday morning, successful classroom teachers will share their best curriculum ideas in multiple sessions provided by the Special Area Groups.
The conference will be completed by noon, Saturday.
