Copyright Information a Click Away

The Copyright Consortium of the Council of Ministers of Education, Canada (CMEC) have begun a campaign to raise awareness among the K-12 teachers regarding copyright in Canada.

The consortium has been concerned that teachers are unsure of what types of material they can use in their classrooms and what falls under the umbrella of “fair dealing.”

The focus of the campaign is the promotion of CopyrightDecisionTool.ca, a website that will help teachers understand copyright as it pertains to education.

The website will help teachers decide whether fair dealing permits classroom use of print materials, artistic work or audiovisual materials without getting copyright permission.

It says teachers can find answers within 30 seconds.
