“Together. For the kids.” is the theme of a new television commercial produced by The Manitoba Teachers’ Society in partnership with the Manitoba Association of School Trustees, and the Manitoba government. The new 30-second spot will be airing across the province during Education Week, April 14–18.

“Education week celebrates excellence in Manitoba’s public schools,” said Pat Isaak, president of The Manitoba Teachers’ Society. “We’re pleased to have partnered with school trustees and the provincial government to raise awareness of this week. It’s also important to recognize the hard work our schools are doing, not just for one week, but for the entire year.”

The three major education stake-holders worked together to produce the commercial which recognizes Manitoba’s public schools, teachers and students. The ad highlights the value of public education in our society, celebrating successes and looking forward to the future.

“Dedicated teachers across the province play a key role in making our school system among the best in Canada,” said Education, Citizenship and Youth Minister Peter Bjornson. “I’m looking forward to presenting our government’s second annual “Celebration of Excellence in Teaching” awards to a few very special teachers from across the province on Thursday, April 17 in honor of Education Week.”

“Those of us with immediate ties to the public school system—students and their families, teachers and other staff, school trustees and administrators—know about and celebrate the great things that happen in our schools,” said Yolande Dupuis, president of the Manitoba Association of School Trustees. "Education Week is a time to share that celebration with the entire province."

Pat Isaak said Manitoba’s 15,000 public school teachers are proud of their role in ensuring the brightest future for our students, our communities and our province.
