Manitoba principals honoured for outstanding work
Two Manitoba principals have received awards as Canada’s Outstanding Principals for 2008.
Susan Gustafson, principal at Stony Mountain Elementary and Gordon Crook, Principal at Tec-Voc High School in Winnipeg were among 33 in-school administrators selected across Canada.
They were nominated by colleagues and members of their respective school communities through the Council of School Leaders of The Manitoba Teachers’ Society.
An initiative of The Learning Partnership, a national not-for-profit organization dedicated to championing a strong public education system in Canada, Canada’s Outstanding Principals program recognizes the contributions of dynamic education leaders in publicly funded schools.
The award honours principals who have made a measurable difference in the lives of their students and their own local communities and help ensure that Canada’s young people continue to receive a quality education.
Now in its fourth year, Canada’s Outstanding Principals program was developed as an endeavour between The Learning Partnership and the Canadian Association of Principals, in collaboration with the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management.
From February 24 to 28, the 33 principals participated in a five-day executive leadership training program at the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management.
